First grade students looked at the following painting by artist Jasper Johns:
We talked about how letters can be part of art as well as lines, shapes, and colors. Using black paint and oil pastels, students created their own alphabet art. They also used words as inspiration for their color choices. For example, choosing purple for the box around letter "J" because "J is for jelly". First graders worked hard to make their capitol letters neat with paint and to use the oil pastels correctly to get bold, bright areas of color. Way to go first grade!
This is great!
ReplyDeletei love the look of this project. How did you go about making the boxes for the letters? was it done by a teacher or a student?
