Matching Mittens with *Emphasis*

With buzz of the "big snowstorm" all around, I thought it would be an appropriate time to share these "matching mittens with *emphasis*" made by second graders. We talked about using *emphasis* to make one piece of your artwork stand out from the others. Students designed two pairs of matching mittens and one on its own. Doesn't your eye go straight to the fifth mitten? Artists use this technique all the time to catch the viewers attention and direct it to a specific element of their work.

Materials used: marker, crayon, oil pastels, and watercolor paint.
